The international activities of Paatela & Co Architects Ltd are based on the management’s expertise in the design of health facilities and considerable experience in international projects and specialist assignments. This work has covered everything from commissions to develop, design and implement hospital and health care sector projects to various expert and advisory assignments around the world.

Our international activities were begun by Professor Jussi Paatela in the 1940s, when he worked at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland as an expert in health facilities design during the rebuilding of health care infrastructure in post-war Europe.

More recently, the firm’s projects have ranged from demanding design for university hospitals, regional hospitals and elderly care centres, to the development of regional health service networks. Our expert services have been utilised in projects commissioned by Finnish clients and by clients elsewhere in the world including China, other Asian countries, Russia, the Middle East and Africa. Our clients and partners include architectural firms, construction firms and organisations such as the Finnish Red Cross, the Finnish International Development Agency of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health of the People’s Republic of China, and the World Health Organization.
